About Us

Rudimental Control is more than a brand—it’s a reflection of a journey shaped by culture, discipline, and a deep respect for the craft.

Founded by Nissan Ballard, a New Orleans native, Rudimental Control is rooted in the rich musical DNA of the city and sharpened through years of high-level performance. Nissan’s foundation was built at Southern University Human Jukebox, where four years on the line instilled the precision, toughness, and musicality that define HBCU drumline culture.

After stepping away from drumming, the COVID era became a turning point—a season of return, rebuilding, and refinement. That comeback led to performances with the Casper Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2021 and 2022, with a return set for 2026. Off the field, Nissan remains grounded through music ministry, serving as the full-time gospel drummer at Sanford Temple COGIC.

Rudimental Control was born from a simple realization: the tools available didn’t meet the standard required for real growth. Instead of settling, something better was built.

Every practice pad is designed at the intersection of HBCU energy and DCI precision—where feel, rebound, and durability meet real performance demands. These are not generic practice tools. They are intentionally crafted to develop control, clarity, and consistency—the same qualities required on the yard, on the field, and on the stage.

Rudimental Control is for serious drummers—high school lines, college bands, drum corps, and beyond—who understand that mastery is earned through repetition, discipline, and the right tools.

Rudimental Control isn’t just about practice.
It’s about purpose.
It’s about legacy.
It’s about control.
